Staying in JS Luwansa Hotel and a visit to Kota Kasablanka

During the holiday season, my little family had decided to spend the long weekend staying at our favourite hotel named JS Luwansa. The hotel is located in Jl. HR Rasuna Said Kav C-22, Kuningan, Jakarta. It is our third time staying in the hotel and is absolutely by far our favourite place in Jakarta.

We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist, who then told us that they are having their first anniversary and asked if we would like to join their charity event which we did. I always fancy staying in hotels, mainly because I love to play household while staying in and immediately unpack my belongings and put them in the hotel drawer as if it’s my new home. Well, for the mean time at least.

Staying here is a delight and I especially love the food. They are superb! My sister once had her wedding reception at this hotel and the food they provided was impressive. I especially loved the duck menu, so yummy that it made me drool just to think about it.

Funny thing though, Bowie and I noticed that we were given the same exact room number when we first came to this hotel. It’s as if we are really returning back to our home, hihihi.

At lunch, my mum and dad came to visit so we thought it will be nice to go out to Kota Kasablanka mall and dine out. Since Rama favor the Japan sushi dish, we went to eat at Sushi Tei before finally getting entertained with the mall Christmast attraction from Hungary. The Christmast Circus Carnaval acrobatic performance.

It was a breathtaking experience watching the performance but I was delighted to see the show, mall decorations and all.

Celebrating Rama’s 4th Birthday at Saung Apung

Last week we had a chance to celebrate Rama’s 4th birthday with some of the closest family member in a Sundanese Restaurant called Saung Apung. It’s reside in Vila Nusa Indah II, Jl. Campur Sari III blok GG-1 Jatiasih, Bekasi. If you asked why we picked this place, the answer is simple. Good bargain of food, and a fishing spot.

Rama had always love to fish, and with his birthday he wanted to share experience with his cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents about what he love to do. So we invite some of Bowie’s closest family member and mine to join us for lunch in Saung Apung. Since the place is located in a residential area outside Jakarta, we had to become a host slash guide as well for my family since they don’t well reckon Jatiasih’ area.

We did had some delay from waiting for the others to come, but thankfully our reservation was not canceled after an hour late of departure (they have a 3o minutes of arrival upon order terms and condition).

If some of you are familiar with a Sundanese Restaurant, than what I’m about to mentioned below might come as a usual post. But if you haven’t, I might as well share with you the selection of menu that we ordered:

1. Nasi putih (white rice), a must for Indonesian meal
2. Sop Gurame Original and Spicy Gurame Soup (carp soup – original and spicy)
3. Karedok (Sundanese salad with bean paste)
4. Sayur kangkung cah balacan (green veggies)
5. Udang goreng mentega (fried shrimp with butter/margarine)
6. Udang goreng saus padang (fried shrimp with Padang sauce)
7. Ayam kampung bakar bumbu kecap (grilled chicked with soybean sauce)
8. Cumi goreng tepung (coated fried calamari)
9. Otak-otak (fish cake)
10. Tahu goreng (fried tofu)

As for the drinks, the favourite menu in our family are:
1. Mineral water
2. Es kelapa (coconut water and meat with ice)
3. Es jeruk (squeezed orange with ice)
4. Juice

For the birthday cake, Rama picked the Harvest Patissier and Chocolatier’s Red Velvet cake. It’s a yum! and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

I was planning to share with you all some pictures of the location, but I was distracted by socializing with all of the guests and end up with only the pictures of Rama blowing the candle. I hope my post today is not a boring one, and maybe you’ll be interested in trying a Sundanese meal.

Have a happy holiday all!

A Trip to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Miniature Park of Beautiful Indonesia)

So last weekend me, my hubby and Rama went for a family fun trip to TMII (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah). It’s been a while since we last came, I think it has almost been a year. The reason that we came there is purely just to have fun and to take our new nanny for a family fun trip. For the record, she had never come to TMII before.

The ticket entrance per person here is about Rp9.000 and Rp10.000 for the car fee. It’s not that expensive, but do keep in mind that for every playground you enter, there is an additional charges per person. For detail pricing, you may check on the price at their website http://www.tamanmini.com/english/page/tiket

Where did we go you asked? We did took the liberty to ride on the sky lift, and turns out they just renewed the cabin so it looks lovely and clean. Sorry I didn’t took that much picture while we’re in the sky lift. But I did took some pictures of the playground below.

Embracing December

It’s day 9 on December, and slowly the weather seems to get a bit chilly especially at night time. Nope, we don’t have snow here in Jakarta, but we do have loads of heavy rain.

Rama is currently in his first semester as a second year in his playground and he seems to enjoy every time he has to wake up and go to school. Just like today, even though it’s quite a challenge to wake him up in the morning but after you mentioned “go to school” he’ll slowly open his eyes and sit. Hihihihi that’s different from me, because when I was his age, I don’t recall on doing the same thing. In fact, I love to cuddle up in bed every single morning and hate it when my mom used to call me for a shower or bath.

Back to Rama, since it’s December means his birthday is coming up very soon. And as a parent, you would normally be thrilled and get a bit excited of his upcoming birthday. This year, we’ve decided to do something different. There will be two different event held in honor of his birthday. One will be held in “Saung Apung”, a Sundanese family restaurant that provide fishing service *he just LOVE to fish* with private hut (“Saung”) and big pond to fish. The second event, will be held at his school TKAI on January 10th. Yeah, it’s almost overdue but that’s the only available date we got after the semester break which actually started two days before his birthday.

This year also, Rama is involved in his birthday event by choosing his own party theme. He chose “Jake and The Neverland Pirate” theme with pirate decorations and goodiebags also cake. Now this is a challenge, since I wanted to use the service of Veracake, but apparently they don’t have any experience yet in making a Jake theme birthday cake. I haven’t actually called them, just did some pre-visit on the web and noticed that there are no Jake’s cake in the gallery or in their choice of decorations. Hopefully if I’m able to contact them today, we’ll get a good response.

Another pirate-ey theme to add up is the invitation. I browsed the other day and found one website called greetingsisland, and I found the perfect invitation card to distribute to Rama’s friend. Since I’m focussing more on the school venue, there are several things any mother/father should take note when they are going to celebrate a kid birthday event at school:

1. Baloons, quite a handful of it. Since TKAI already have weekly decoration as their background, I am more concern in putting quite a few of ballons to add the festive feeling.
2. Birthday cake and candles, that is large enough to fill those tiny tum tum and the teachers.
3. Goodiebags, to make it simple just make the same goodiebag for each kids. Doesn’t necessarily has to be different between girls and boys. This is so you can save some Rp for the cake.
4. Invitation cards.
5. Costume!! Yup, just because most of the kids who celebrate their birthday at school loves to wear costume. Like last week, the lovely girl called Andara wore Elsa from Disney Movie Frozen iconic dress. Love that ❤
6. Yellow rice ("Nasi Kuning Campur"). This is like a celebration rice with yellow colour accompanied with fried chicken, omelete, and sausages or shredded beef ("Abon"). Sorry I don't know what it's called in English.
7. Last but not least, is the birthday boy/girl gifts. Rama has been asking a lot of stuff, but I made him to choose only one in the end.

So yeah, that's about it. I don't have any picture yet to show, but when I do I will surely keep it posted.

Happy December all!
